I am originally from Olympia, Washington in the United States, and I studied International Relations at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. I have been living and teaching in Japan since 1992, first in Niigata for 8 years and in Tokyo since 2000. I have e community centers. I have been teaching at The Japan Hotel School for over 10 years. I enjoy languages and learning about how language interacts with culture and the way people think. I think this is useful in figuring out the best ways

미국 워싱턴 주 올림피아시 출신입니다. 매사추세츠의 Mount Holyoko 대학에서 국제 관계를 공부했습니다. 1992년에 일본에 와서 니가타 8년간 살고 있고, 도쿄는 2000년에 살고 있습니다. 고등학교, 대학, 비즈니스, 커뮤니티 센터 등에서 가르친 적이 있습니다. 일본 호텔 스쿨에서 10 이상 가르치고 있습니다. 다양한 외국어를 공부하는 것은 취미로 말과 문화와 사람의 사고방식의 관계에 매우 흥미가 있습니다. 이런 아이디어를 사용하면 가르치는 것은 더 배우기 쉬워진다고 생각합니다.

학생들에게 메시지

Learning new things is always important, but it's also important to learn how to use the knowledge and skills you have. Many people are afraid to do something if they can't do It perfectly. This is especially true in speaking a foreign what you have to do the best you can. Having a positive, polite, and open-minded attitude will go a long way in hospitality and communication in general.

새로운 것을 배우는 것은 물론 중요하지만, 이미 가지고 있는 지식과 스킬의 사용법도 배워야 합니다. 많은 사람들이 무언가를 완벽하게 할 수 없다고 무서워서 그만 둡니다. 외국어로 말하기에는 특히 그렇습니다. 그보다, 가지고 있는 지식과 스킬을 사용해서 가능한 한 하는 것은 정답이라고 생각합니다. 긍정적이고 예의 바르고 깊은 마음을 가지고 환대와 의사 소통이 더 좋아질 것입니다.

앞으로의 호텔 업계·브라이들 업계로 생각할 것

As the current pandemic begins to calm down, I think there will be a focus on tourism in helping the world recover. The hotel industry will need to convey an image of safety and ensure customers that everything is being done to protect their health and to make them feel comfortable. The current students who will be joining the hospitality industry in the next few years will be an essential part of that.
