Opportunity to work with people from various countries using English

I wanted to use English to work with hoteliers from various countries. Although Japan is said to have high hospitality skills, I wanted to find out if that was really the case by actually working overseas and discover the actual differences, so I decided to try an overseas internship program.

My current training involves being in charge of the overall service, including the breakfast buffet, at the Hotel Ambassador's Japanese restaurant, Teppanyaki-Restaurant Taishi. There is also an international restaurant, and I am in charge of the service there, selling alcohol at the bar, and making cocktails. I am also in charge of managing the restaurants within the hotel.

When working at a hotel overseas, I see more colleagues actively expressing their opinions and thoughts to their superiors and seniors than when working at a hotel in Japan. When my colleagues receive instructions from their superiors, I am surprised that they clearly express their own opinions, such as "Why do we do it that way?" and "I think it would be better to do it this way."

Now that I am working in a hotel overseas, my boss often tells me to "express my opinions and communicate more," so I have started to proactively voice my opinions without worrying about what others around me think, like my colleagues.

Even if you come across various difficulties in achieving what you want to do, never give up and keep working hard without compromising your beliefs. Then, think about what you need to do now to succeed in a hotel overseas, and act on it. When you actually go overseas, even if you encounter difficulties, your determination will surely help you out. I wholeheartedly support you!
