HRS Service Competition

The HRS Service Competition is a national competition for restaurant service skills. In recent years, the Japan Hotel School, a vocational school, has won prizes. Young service professionals compete against each other in this competition, which is organized by the Japan Hotel and Restaurant Service Skills Association.

What is the HRS Service Competition?

In the competition, participants compete in performances such as fruit carving, making non-alcoholic cocktails, and serving in front of an audience, with the judges seated at a table as guests. (The tasks change every year.) Our school participates every year in the "College Division" for students under the age of 25.

The HRS Service Competition also includes a category for active professionals working in hotels and restaurants across the country, and serves as an opportunity to improve the technical skills of the entire industry and test the results of training in food and beverage service.

What is Restaurant Service Technology?

Practical training is essential when learning restaurant service. You will learn various techniques until you naturally become able to perform the elegant posture and beautiful movements that create a great atmosphere, appropriate for restaurant service in a hotel or wedding establishment. You will master the skills necessary for first-class restaurant service, such as table setting, handling cutlery (a general term for knives, forks, spoons, etc.) and glassware, uncorking wine, and plate decoration.

At the Japan Hotel School, a vocational school, specialists in the fields of menus, cooking, and beverages serve as lecturers and also provide instruction for the HRS Service Competition.
