Ginny Wilson
I'm originally from Olympia, Washington, USA. I studied International Relations at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. I came to Japan in 1992 and lived in Niigata for 8 years, then moved to Tokyo in 2000. I've taught at high schools, universities, business and community centers, and have taught at the Japan Hotel School for over 10 years. My hobby is studying various foreign languages, and I'm very interested in the relationship between language, culture and people's ways of thinking. I think that using ideas like these will make what I teach easier to learn.

Message to students
Learning new things is always important, but it's also important to learn how to use the knowledge and skills you have. Many people are afraid to do something if they can't do It perfectly. This is especially true in speaking a foreign language. Instead,I think you should use what you have to do the best you can. Having a positive, polite, and open-minded attitude will go a long way in hospitality and communication in general.
Of course it's important to learn new things, but we should also learn how to use the knowledge and skills we already have. Many people get scared when they can't do something perfectly, and give up, especially when it comes to speaking a foreign language. Instead, I think it's better to use the knowledge and skills you already have to do as much as you can. I think hospitality and communication will be better if you have a positive, polite, and open-minded attitude.

Thoughts on the future of the hotel and bridal industries
As the current pandemic begins to calm down, I think there will be a focus on tourism in helping the world recover. The hotel industry will need to convey an image of safety and ensure customers that everything is being done to protect their health and to make them feel comfortable. The current students who will be joining the hospitality industry in the next few years will be an essential part of that.
Once the pandemic calms down, tourism will be important for economic recovery. The hotel industry must convey a sense of security by properly protecting the health and safety of its customers. I think that those of you who are entering the hospitality industry from now on will be very important in this regard.
