Let me tell you about my day

We followed the daily life of C, a first-year student in Hotel Course ‐ Classwork by English! We followed her on a typical weekday and weekend, not only focusing on her classes and campus life, but also her part-time job and how she spends her time at home.

One Wednesday

Wake up at 7am

On Wednesdays, classes start a little later than usual with four subjects starting from the second period.
The day is well balanced, with two classes in English and two classes in Japanese.
I could sleep a little longer, but I'll get up at around 7 as usual. I'm currently living in a dorm, but I've always been good at mornings ever since I was living at home. I prepare my own breakfast and eat a good meal. Today, I'll make my lunch and get ready to go♪

10:30- 2nd period Chinese 2

The second period is "Chinese 2".
While Chinese is taught as a second foreign language, in Hotel Course ‐ Classwork by English, the lessons are actually conducted in English!
Learning another language through English is very difficult, but the sense of accomplishment when you finally understand it is amazing.
Many foreign tourists visiting Japan speak Chinese, and I'm happy when I can try using the phrases and words I learned in class at the hotel where I work part-time and they respond with smiles.

11:40～ 3rd period English discussion

"English Discussion" is a unique subject offered only in Hotel Course ‐ Classwork by English. The instructor is, of course, a native English speaker. This class is characterized by its focus on learning to explain things in English, conducted entirely in English.
I'm so focused on getting my point across that my gestures get bigger and bigger. But my teacher tells me that "that's also an effective presentation," so I try to be proactive in my communication.

12:40～ Lunch break

For lunch, I don't go out to eat, but eat what I made or bought with my close friends from class. We have fun exchanging side dishes and going to convenience stores together to buy sweets. Recently, our topic of conversation has been "job hunting." We encourage each other to do our best.

13:40- 4th period Hotel accounting

From noon, classes continue in Japanese. "Hotel accounting" is a class that deals with numbers, which I'm not very good at... In my second year, there are more classes related to hotel management, and I'm starting to understand how hard it is to work there. I think this knowledge is necessary to be successful in the hotel industry in the future, so I'm not feeling too bad about it and am trying my best to understand it by asking lots of questions to my teacher.

14:50- 5th period: Front system

"Front Desk System" is one of the subjects that teaches about the accommodation department of a hotel.
We are able to try out the management system that is actually used in hotels at school. Things that I couldn't really imagine just by reading textbooks, such as hotel reservations and room management, have become easier to understand by actually operating them.
Being able to experience front desk work while still a student makes me feel like I'm one step closer to my dream of working at the front desk of a foreign-owned hotel.

after school

On Wednesdays, I finish school with the fifth period. After class, sometimes I go to a part-time job, and sometimes I hang out with my classmates.
On my free time, I like to go to cafes with my close friends. Today, I'm going to splurge and spend a luxurious time at a hotel lounge.
The friends you meet at Hotesque share the same goals as you, and you share many common hobbies and interests, making you important friends.

19:30 Return home

When I get home, I prepare dinner. The school dormitory has a kitchen, so if I buy ingredients, I can cook my own meal.
I never cooked when I was at home, but I got into it and now I have some dishes I'm good at. I enjoy chatting with my friends in the dorm after dinner, but I have class tomorrow from the first period, so I'll prepare my lunch and get ready to go to bed.

One day on a holiday

Wake up at 9am

Today, I got up later than usual because my part-time job starts in the evening. I had a leisurely breakfast and did some cleaning and laundry that had piled up.

13:00 Lunch

I usually cook my own lunch on my days off, but today I had lunch with a friend who lives in the same dorm. There are many stylish restaurants around the dorm, but today I went to a local Chinese restaurant that I've been wanting to try for a while, and enjoyed it to my heart's content.
On my days off when I don't have a part-time job, I work as a "school navigator" at the school, helping out with school information sessions, open campus events, etc. When I greet the participants with serious expressions on their faces, I am reminded of my own time before I enrolled, and it brings back fresh feelings.

16:00 Part-time job

I work part-time at a restaurant in a hotel. My main job is serving customers, but I also make drinks occasionally. In those situations, the knowledge I learned in the "Beverage Explanation" class comes in handy. I've become able to notice in advance what customers will request next, and I've been able to make more customers happy.
The other day, I was happy when someone asked me my name and said, "I'll come to see you next time." I learn a lot from my part-time job and it's very fulfilling.

10pm Return home

I've just had dinner at my part-time job, so I'll play a few games and then get ready for bed.
I'll do my best again next week!
