Let me tell you about my day

We followed the life of A, a first-year student in the hotel department! We followed not only her classes and campus life, but also her part-time job and how she spends her time at home, over a weekday and a weekend.

One Tuesday

Wake up at 7am

Wake up at 7am

I live in a student dormitory, so I usually have a simple breakfast of bread and cup soup. When I was living at home, I often went out without eating the breakfast that was prepared for me, and I felt bad for my parents. I didn't know how hard it would be to keep the house clean and do the housework myself.
Tuesday is suit day, so I'll get ready to wear a suit.

9:20- 1st period: Hotel Overview

9:20- 1st period: Hotel Overview

"Hotels in General" is one of my favorite classes. The teacher, who is a working hotelier, gives interesting talks about hotels, which I had only known from the perspective of a hotel guest, including behind-the-scenes stories.
I recently learned that hotels are not only divided into city hotels, business hotels, and resort hotels, but are also classified based on their business model. It's fun.

10:30 - 2nd period: Hotel English Conversation

10:30 - 2nd period: Hotel English Conversation

You have to be able to speak English in a hotel. I've felt that I'm not very good at English since I was in high school, and English classes used to be depressing. However, as I learned the English words and phrases often used in hotels, I gradually began to understand them, and I started to look forward to the day when I would use them in my practical training. I think it won't be long before I can naturally say "Have a nice day!" to foreign guests who are going out.

11:40- 3rd period: Intercultural Communication

11:40- 3rd period: Intercultural Communication

Professor Masako Inoue has been a travel attendant for many years, and her stories about different cultures always amaze me. The story of the millionaires in Dubai is truly amazing, as it is a world I can't even imagine. There are people with various cultures and people who spend their money in various ways, and it makes me excited to think that I will be able to serve such people smartly in the future.

12:40~ Lunch break

12:40~ Lunch break

I try to bring my own lunch to school as much as possible during my lunch break. (If I buy it at a convenience store, I run out of money quickly.) I eat with my friends on the 4th floor of the new school building or on the rooftop of the main building. I was surprised at how many spaces I could use freely.

13:40- 4th to 5th period: Banquet Service Theory

We changed into uniforms for the practical class. Holding the plates looked easy, but it was difficult because it required finger strength to hold them neatly and correctly. The teacher taught each person how to hold the plates in a way that suited their hand. I was surprised to see that there was a way to hold them that suited each hand. I want to practice many times and become able to serve food as cool as the teacher.

The class lasts two hours, so I'm sure you'll learn a lot.

After school part-time job

After school part-time job

I work part-time at a fast food restaurant. I worked part-time at a local restaurant when I was in high school, so I was able to start right away here. Since I started going to the hotel, I have been observing the customers more than before, so I have noticed more before they call out to me, and I have learned that with just a little ingenuity, I can make them happy. I am also considering working part-time at a hotel so that I can use that experience in the future.

20:00 Return home

I've had dinner at my part-time job, so I'm going to prepare my lunch for tomorrow. It was hard to get used to it, but it's become a lot easier since I discovered frozen foods.
I sometimes do my homework with my friends in the dormitory in the community space in the student center. Being able to think together about difficult assignments is one of the good things about dormitory life.
One of the things I enjoy doing is chatting with my high school friends on LINE before going to bed. The student center has Wi-Fi, which is convenient.

One day on a holiday

Wake up at 8am

Wake up at 8am

On my days off, I clean first. Even though I use it normally, it gets dirty quickly, so I'm researching convenient cleaning products with my friends in the dorm. When I was in high school, I just went to club activities without thinking about anything and left the laundry to my parents. There's really a lot to do!
But it's nice to have breakfast after a hard day's work.

Morning: Relax

Morning: Relax

On days when I don't have a part-time job, I do laundry, cook leftover ingredients together, and freeze them for lunch boxes. Another thing I enjoy is chatting with friends on LINE.

Afternoon tea at the hotel

Afternoon tea at the hotel

I went to the hotel my teacher talked about with my friends for afternoon tea! I was hesitant because the price would have blown away my part-time wages, but I decided to go. Not only were the sweets and fruits delicious, but the tableware, presentation, and service were also very eye-catching. As expected, the service at a first-class hotel is all so cool. Even though there were many guests, the hotel staff were very elegant and relaxed.
I learned a lot and I'm glad I persevered.

20:00 Return home

After afternoon tea, I enjoyed a leisurely stroll around town, including window shopping. I wasn't very hungry, so I had a light dinner and returned to the dormitory. On days when I have a part-time job, I'm always busy at night, so on days like today when I have nothing to do, I relax by watching my favorite artist's live performance on YouTube.
