My Day (Hotel SNS Communication Department)
Fulfilling campus life

Let me tell you about my day
We followed the life of D, a first-year student in the Hotel SNS Communication Department! We followed not only his classes and campus life, but also his part-time job and how he spends his time at home, over a weekday and a weekend.
Hotel SNS Communication Course Curriculum Example

One Thursday

Wake up at 7am
It takes about an hour to get to school from home, so on days when I have my first class, I usually wake up at 7am. Today, I have time because my second class starts, so I ended up running out of time while watching Instagram and TikTok in my room. I hurriedly eat breakfast and sprint to the station by bike.

9:20- 1st period: Digital Communication
This is a class where we learn to communicate using digital media. We are learning many things, such as the fact that even if you think you can get your point across in a certain way, the recipient of the words and images will interpret them differently, that timing is important, and that you must always be mindful of privacy.

10:30- 2nd period: Digital Communication
Digital communication is taught over two consecutive periods, so you can study it thoroughly.

11:40~ 3rd period: Beverage explanation
I thought bartenders and sommeliers were cool, but far away. However, as I learned in class, I began to feel like I could do it myself. Although I can't actually drink alcohol, there are many things to learn, such as the types of alcohol, ingredients, how it is made, and differences depending on the place of origin. Studying about alcohol is very interesting.

12:40~ Lunch break
When I have time, I sometimes make my own bento, but I usually go to a convenience store or supermarket to buy them. There are several stores near my school, so I go and buy one depending on my mood that day. My recent favorite is the Chicken Nanban bento.

13:40- 4th period Communication Hour
This is a class where we decide on school events and deepen our relationships within the class. The Hotel SNS Communication Department and the Hotel Department are in the same class and have many classes together. We also talk about preparations for job hunting.

14:50- 5th period: Information literacy
I thought I didn't need to learn because I already use computers and the Internet quite a bit, but there are many things I don't know about security and risk management. I never really cared about my personal information before, but I realized it's very important to work in a hotel.

after school
Some days I go to work part-time, and other days I go out with friends from school.
I am also a member of the Service Research Club, so there are days when I have activities for that club. I want to improve my fruit carving skills and enter the HRS Service Competition. Club activities are also a chance to make friends outside of class.

19:00 Return home
I sometimes practice orange carving at home, which I learned at the service study group. I was happy that my family was surprised by it.
Since I was in high school, I've been doing strength training at home. Even if I work late or am sleepy because of my part-time job, I always do it. I also watch Instagram and YouTube. On Instagram, I don't just look at things I like, but also things related to hotels and resorts.
One day on a holiday

Wake up at 8am
I work part-time at a hotel on most of my days off. I commute from my parents' home, but I want to put as little strain on them as possible.
On my days off when I don't have a part-time job, I sometimes work as a school navigator at the school's open campus.

Morning: Go to work
After breakfast and a quick tidy up in the room, we head to a city hotel in Tokyo in time for lunch.
At lunchtime, the restaurant gets so crowded that there are long lines, so I was a bit flustered at first and made some mistakes, but I've gotten used to it recently. I've gotten better at going out and asking customers before they call, and now they say thank you to me.

Afternoon Part-time job
In the afternoon, the restaurant is crowded with business travelers and tourists. I take orders from foreign customers in English, but at first, I would just point to the menu and ask my seniors for help. I'm starting to understand a little bit more now, so I try to speak to them as much as possible.

20:30 Return home
I have dinner at my part-time job. When I get home, I do some strength training and then take a bath. I'm having fun and feeling energetic while I'm working, but I'm still tired because I have to stand up. I often get ready for school the next day and then fall asleep in bed watching YouTube.
